One on one support, built around you

Individual Therapy

Life gets heavy sometimes. Individual therapy gives you a steady, private space to sort through what you are carrying, understand yourself better, and build practical ways forward. Sessions happen over secure video, anywhere in Ontario.

This might be for you if...

  • Your mind feels busy or on edge most of the day
  • Low mood or flatness that does not lift on its own
  • A big life change, such as a move, breakup, or career shift, feels hard to absorb
  • You keep pushing through but feel worn down inside
  • You want a place to talk openly without being judged

How We Help

What working together looks like.

Understand your patterns

Together we map out the thoughts, habits, and pressures that keep you stuck, so they start to make sense.

Build practical tools

You leave sessions with real strategies you can use the same week, not just ideas to think about.

Move at your pace

Some weeks are about coping. Some are about growth. We follow what you need, not a fixed script.

Understanding It

What this can feel like.

Most people who start individual therapy are not in crisis. They are functioning, working, caring for others, and quietly carrying more than anyone around them realizes. Anxiety shows up as a mind that will not settle. Low mood shows up as going through the motions. Life transitions, even welcome ones, can leave you feeling unsteady in ways that are hard to explain to friends or family.

Individual therapy is a dedicated hour that belongs entirely to you. There is no agenda you need to follow and no version of yourself you need to perform. Over time, patterns that felt confusing start to make sense, and the things that felt fixed begin to feel workable.

Because sessions happen online, virtual therapy in Ontario fits into real life. You can meet your therapist from your kitchen table, your parked car, or your office on a lunch break, without adding a commute to an already full week.

Approaches We Use

Methods with research behind them, explained plainly.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)

A practical approach that helps you notice the link between thoughts, feelings, and actions, then gently shift the patterns that keep you stuck.

Mindfulness-based strategies

Simple grounding skills that help a busy or anxious mind settle, both in session and in the middle of an ordinary day.

Person-centred conversation

You set the direction. Your therapist follows what matters to you rather than working from a fixed script.

Solution-focused tools

Short, concrete steps you can try between sessions so progress shows up in your actual week, not just in conversation.

Virtual Sessions

What online sessions look like.

Sessions run about 50 minutes over secure, private video. You join from anywhere in Ontario with a phone, tablet, or computer and a quiet corner. Many clients tell us that meeting from home helps them relax faster and speak more openly than they expected. There is no software to install beyond a simple link, and your therapist will walk you through the first login if you would like a hand.

Common Questions

Questions people ask before starting.

Is virtual therapy as effective as in person therapy?

For most concerns, including anxiety and low mood, research shows online therapy works about as well as meeting in person. What matters most is a good fit with your therapist and a private space where you can talk freely.

How often should I come to therapy?

Most people start with weekly or biweekly sessions, then space them out as things improve. You and your therapist decide together, and the schedule can change as your needs do.

What can I talk about in individual therapy?

Anything that is weighing on you: anxiety, relationships, work stress, family, self-esteem, grief, or a general feeling of being stuck. You do not need a diagnosis or a clear reason to begin.

Do I need a referral to start therapy in Ontario?

No referral is needed. You can book a free 15 minute call directly through our contact page and decide from there whether it feels like a good fit.

Is individual therapy covered by insurance?

Many Ontario extended health plans cover sessions with a registered psychotherapist. Our fees and insurance page explains what to look for in your plan and how receipts work.

Your First Session

No pressure. Just a conversation.

Your first session is a conversation, not a test. We talk about what brought you in, what you hope will change, and how we can work together. You set the pace, and there is no pressure to share more than you want to.

You do not need to have the right words before you start. That is what the first call is for.
